Smarter Choices Travel Plan Awards

The following organisations were presented with Travel Plan Accreditation Certificates at a Smarter Choices event on Tuesday 16 June, 2009:

~ Gateshead College, Baltic Campus (Silver)
~ Gateshead International Stadium Travel Plan Partners (Silver)
~ Brewin Dolphin, Time Central, Newcastle (Bronze)
~ Muckle LLP, Time Central, Newcastle (Bronze)

The Workplace Travel Plan Company have worked closely with these organisations to help them achieve the awards.

Option C Car Club Expands to Newcastle

North East Car Club "Option C" and Newcastle City Council have joined forces to launch a city wide car club for Newcastle. Option C in Newcastle will provide convenient access to cars for both individuals and employers. The first locations will be Dean Street, the Quayside, the Civic Centre, Leazes Park Road and Jesmond, with more to come soon!

£29 million on offer for England’s first sustainable travel city

The Government is inviting some of England’s largest urban areas to bid for up to £29 million and the chance to become the country’s first ‘sustainable travel city’.

DfT: England to get its first "Sustainable Travel City"

Large urban areas across England are being given the chance to bid to become the country's first Sustainable Travel City, Transport Minister Paul Clark announced today.
The major urban areas eligible to apply suffer from the worst congestion in the country. The 9 areas are; Greater Manchester, West Midlands, West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, Tyne and Wear, Merseyside, West of England (Bristol), Nottingham and Leicester.

Individual Travel Marketing - positive news from down under

In Australia, Queensland's large urban areas are experiencing levels of congestion which create significant economic, environmental, health and social costs. Queensland Transport has recognised that substantial change in how we travel is needed.

Late in 2006, a survey of more than 70 000 households in Brisbane's northern suburbs revealed that 52 per cent of households were interested in reducing their car use in favour of sustainable transport.
