Did you know that Tuesday 22nd September is In Town without My Car Day?

In Town without My Car Day is a European initiative that has spread to over 40 countries, based around the promotion of city centres for purposes other than thoroughfare.

The main focus for the campaign this year is to encourage the use of alternative forms of transport and travel and to raise awareness within the community of what is at stake with regards to long term mobility in towns and the risks connected with pollution.

Green Travel Plans: Good for Business as well as the Planet

A green travel plan could be good for your company as well as the planet

Pick Everard’s plan for its head office in Leicester is a voluntary one, although any business seeking to build a new headquarters must now submit a travel plan as part of its planning application.

The firm wants to be carbon neutral by 2025, and asked sustainable transport specialist Go Travel Solutions for help in achieving that goal.

Bid to Clinch 29m Pounds to Cut Cars on North-East Roads

Tyne and Wear is one of the regions bidding for Sustainable Travel City fund. There have been several reports, such as the one below, appearing in the Newcastle Journal, indicating that the bid has the support of the region's press, which in the past have been critical of travel planning.

The ACT TravelWise rumour mill indicates that Tyne and Wear may be one of three shortlisted cities, although we have not had any confirmation of this story.

Whitehall and Industry Group Members Learn About Travel Planning

The strong case for travel planning was pushed up the corporate agenda when it was the main theme at an influential forum set up to build understanding between government and business. The Whitehall and Industry Group (WIG), which brings regulators and wealth creators together for cross-sector workshop and networking events, recently hosted an event to demonstrate the strong business case for workplace travel planning.
